Bob Marley was a spiritual Jamaican singer who gave lifted the spirits and gave hope to many! Bob Marleys song Get Up, Stand Up is about standing up for yourself and avoiding oppression. He wrote it with Peter Tosh. The song was inspired by both Marleys and Toshes upbringing in Jamaica where they had to fight for the acceptance and respect of their Rastafarian religion. Bob Marleys song Redemption song was his last single before he died on May 11 1981. It symbolized what he stood for: freedom and redemption.
